Off Wix, onto a site they own

Zenders

Zenders is a European-styled café and events venue, and their site needed the same warmth and craft as the room itself. It was running on Wix, which is a fine place to start and, eventually, a ceiling: the design can only go so far, and the site is always rented rather than owned.

What we did

We moved them onto WordPress with a design built from scratch: their own typography, palette, and photography direction, then dedicated pages for every side of the business, café, weddings, corporate, celebrations, funerals, and events. It runs on a page builder for the everyday editing, with custom code where the design called for more than a builder gives you. Table booking, a Matterport 3D tour of the venue, event ticketing, and secure enquiry forms are all built in.

The result

A site with the same feel as walking into the venue, that the team run themselves day to day, and that they own outright rather than rent from a closed platform. Every part of the business has its own clear way in, and bookings and enquiries look after themselves.

What to take from it

A template platform gets you live quickly, and then quietly becomes the limit of what your site can be. Moving to something you own is worth it the moment the site needs to feel like you, rather than like the template everyone else started from.
