A bulk-pricing engine the store owns, no app

One Stop Print Shop
One Stop Print Shop sell in volume, and volume selling lives or dies on the pricing feeling obvious. A customer should see exactly what they save as they buy more, without doing the maths themselves. The off-the-shelf way is a bulk-pricing app: a monthly fee, and someone else’s idea of how your tiers should work.
What we did
We built it as native Shopify instead, owned by them outright. Volume tiers run through a Shopify function, so the discount is applied by Shopify itself at checkout rather than bolted on by an app. On the product page, a table shows the price per unit at each tier and the dollars saved, so the incentive to size up is right there in front of the customer. A size and colour grid lets them build a bulk order with a live, tier-aware total, and a quote flow emails the whole cart when they would rather talk first.
The result
A bulk buyer sees their saving grow as they add units, orders the way their business actually buys, and none of it depends on an app subscription that could change its terms or its price next quarter.
What to take from it
If volume is how your customers buy, the pricing should do the persuading for you, right on the page. And when a capability is that central to how you sell, it is worth owning the code that runs it rather than renting it by the month.
