One geo-redirect across three Shopify stores, no app

Steadyrack

Steadyrack sells across three regions, with a Shopify store for each: Australia, North America, and Europe. That setup only works if a visitor lands on the right one. Turn up on the wrong regional store and you see the wrong currency, the wrong shipping, and stock that may not ship to you. The usual fix is a third-party geo-redirect app: a monthly fee, and a script that decides where your customer goes.

What we did

We built the redirect into the theme itself, owned by Steadyrack outright. When someone lands on a store that does not match their location, they get a clear prompt offering the right one, and their choice is respected from then on. It asks rather than forcing a redirect, which keeps it on the right side of the consent rules some regions require, and it never traps a customer somewhere they did not choose to be.

The result

Visitors reach the store that actually serves them, without an app subscription or a third-party script sitting between them and the site. When Steadyrack want the behaviour to change, whether it redirects, what it offers, how it reads a region, that is a change to their own code.

What to take from it

If you run more than one regional store, a shopper on the wrong one is a lost sale hiding in plain sight. It is worth checking what your store does when someone from another country lands on it, and whether the thing making that decision is code you control or an app you rent.
